It was the 70s, towards the end of the Vietnam War. College was the way out of the draft for Bruce Bradford, taking on "sink or swim" to a whole new level. As a young black man and self-taught swimmer, Bradford shares the impact the sport has had on his life and what he calls a spiritual blessing.
Bruce Bradford is a double graduate of Tennessee State University with a doctorate in Education. He became a swim coach and teacher in Washington D.C. and is a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated (Rho Psi Chapter 67), a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Today, at the age of 74, the water continues to call him back letting him know there is more work to be done.</p>
