"Just do it afraid. Do it with the insecurities. Do it with all of the things that could be hindering you. Do it with your heart beating out of your chest." And that is exactly what our guest in this episode, Dr. DeVonna Gatlin, did with her career as a chemist.
Now living her dream, with a Ph.D. acquired from the University of Cincinnati, Dr. DeVonna struggled, adapted, and survived through most of her education with an undiagnosed learning disability.
She could have stopped at any time and thrown in the towel. Having a learning disability, growing up in south-central Los Angeles, and faced with family sickness and death. But when pushed to the limit, she excelled - making a path in life for the next generation of scientists to come.
Every black girl who dreams of being a scientist will be inspired by her story.
