To a lot of people, breast cancer awareness month brings images of pink-clad ladies and children participating in marathons, with huge smiles on their faces. To our guest in this episode, breast cancer awareness month took on a whole new, not-so-glamorous meaning. "...you know, when you see breast cancer stuff, you see like October the month of pink and it's so girly and it's beautiful and it's such a positive thing, but breast cancer is ugly and it's harsh and it's brutal and it is painful. It robs people of their family members and it robs people of themselves." ~Kiana A mom, wife, and licensed marriage family therapist, Kiana shared her deeply moving story about her struggle with cancer not just once but two times. First with low-grade Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma in her 20's, and then 10 years later with aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer, a direct result of her radiation therapy treatment for lymphoma 10 years prior. A strong, plain-spoken survivor with a big heart for people, Kiana had a lot of wisdom to share from her experience. From trusting your own instincts about your body to knowing how to be persistent in getting the help and treatment you need, you will walk away with a lot of food for thought...and encouragement. Tune in to get a candid but compassionate view of the reality of fighting breast cancer through the eyes of someone who has walked the journey. And look out for the sequel next week as I interview Kiana's husband, Isaac Hatley, along with a mini-interview of their daughter.
